Loneliness is one of the biggest challenges that work-at-home moms face. This is particularly true for working from home mum’s who have extroverted personalities and get their energy from being around other people. This is also true for those who have spent most of their working life in the traditional office setting and are used to having people around them during work hours.

But, if you’re a WAHM, there’s no need to worry since you can use several strategies to counter loneliness and stay happy when you’re working from home. You can start by taking these steps:

You don’t need to abandon your friendships with co-workers just because you no longer work in the same company. Invite one of them to lunch once a month so you can catch up with each other and maintain a good relationship. It’s a great way to avoid feeling isolated while staying in the loop and keeping up with industry news.

Reach out to other Working From Home mum’s in your area

You might not realize it, but you may not be the only work-at-home mom in your community! So, as early as possible, do your research, reach out to these women, and build connections with them. Doing this can be helpful since you’ll have people who understand exactly what you’re going through and can give you advice on how to weather the challenges you’ll face.

Use the power of social media

Nowadays, you don’t need to be physically present to interact with people since you can use Facebook, Twitter, and other social networking sites. So why not take advantage of them? You can use social media to stay in touch with your friends and family members and keep your relationships strong. You can also utilize these sites to find other WAHMs in your town or city as well as people who have the same interests and hobbies as you.

Work outside the house

Just because you work at home doesn’t mean you should always work at home. To keep boredom away, spend a few days a month outside the house. You can hire a babysitter to watch the kids for a few hours while you work in a cafe or in the library. You can even opt for hot desking services so you can work in an office-like environment and meet other telecommuters and entrepreneurs.

Attend local business events

Doing this is a great way to expand your business network and meet fellow entrepreneurs who can become either your future mentors or business partners (or both). It’s also an opportunity to learn more about managing a venture and gain the skills to become a better entrepreneur. As a bonus, you’ll get the chance to interact with other people and avoid feeling lonely.
