Got a Busy Schedule? Here’s How You Can Find Time to Travel

What’s stopping you from making your travel dreams come true? According to several surveys, a lot of people want to visit other countries, but not all of them do so because they don’t have the time. They’re busy with work, they have a lot of family obligations, they need to keep the house in good shape — all of these are filling up their schedule and stopping them from traveling around the world.

Fortunately, if you’re one of these folks, there are several strategies to get out of the rut you’re in and find enough time to travel. Here are a few strategies you can use:

Maximize your paid vacation days even with a busy schedule

Unless your employer is a slave driver, you probably have a couple of weeks’ worth of annual paid leave. So why not use it? Some companies even allow their employees to “buy” vacation days; if this the case with your employer, consider giving up some of your money to have more time to travel.

Travel with a bust schedule

Don’t be picky with the destination

When people think of “travel”, they automatically assume visiting an overseas destination. While there’s absolutely nothing wrong with this, you have to realize that going abroad isn’t the only option since you can also travel within your own city or country. Going on a “staycation” might sound like a hippie concept, but it’s actually a great way to see more places within a short amount of time.

Take advantage of weekends and public holidays

Instead of sitting around the house during Saturdays and Sundays, you can use this time to explore nearby places. Go on two-day road trip, or visit a nearby city and see what it has to offer. It’s even better when public holidays pave the way to three-day weekends since you’ll have more time to enjoy your staycation.

Schedule to visit as many places as you can

This actually depends on your personal preferences. Some people prefer to visit one place at a time so they can relax, soak up the atmosphere, and get to know the area really well. But, if your goal is to visit as many countries as possible, you’ll want to pack several destinations into one itinerary. It would most likely be stressful, but the hard work is worth it since you’ll get to see numerous sights and maximize your vacation time.

Make the most of business trips

If your work requires you to go on business trips, make the most of them by inserting sightseeing tours in your schedule. For instance, you can wake up earlier than normal so you can take a stroll and explore your destination before your meetings start. Once you’ve finished your meetings for the day, you can spend the afternoon visiting attractions and enjoying local dishes.

Consider working for yourself, reduce that busy schedule

Running a business can be tough, but it’s actually one of the best ways to have enough time for travel. Since you have full control over your schedule, you can carve out enough time for your travel adventures while still earning a decent income.
